Prabhas Raju Uppalapati (born October 23, 1980), popularly known as Prabhas is a Telugu cinema actor and the nephew of actor, star and politician Krishnam Raju Uppalapati. He came to the industry with the help of his uncle. He is one of three children.



Film Career

Prabhas started his movie career with Eshwar in 2002 about a poor boy falling in love with a rich girl. In 2003, he was seen as the lead in Raghavendra. Both films flopped at the box office.

Varsham reversed his fortunes. He was cast opposite Trisha Krishnan. The film went on to become a huge hit. Then he acted under the direction of B. Gopal in Adavi Ramudu, which miserably average at the box office. In Krishna Vamsi’s Chakram he played a cancer patient, which performed moderately at the box office. However Chatrapathi, in which he played a rebel, with Shriya Saran was a monumental blockbuster.

The movies which followed like Pournami, Yogi, Munna and Bujjigadu however average flicks to leave an impact at the box office.

In 2009 Prabhas was seen in Billa, which is a reworked telugu version of the hugely successful bollywood film Don. The movie stars Anushka Shetty and Namitha and also Hansika Motwani doing an item number. He shared screen space for the first time with his real life uncle, Krishnam Raju Uppalapati. The movie turned out to be a hit, giving Prabhas a much needed breather.
